On behalf of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Mathematica is recruiting inpatient hospitals to assist in testing a Tobacco Use Screening and Cessation Intervention electronic clinical quality measure (eCQM):

• Measure Description: Percentage of persons 12 years of age and older who were screened for tobacco use one or more times during the measurement period AND who received tobacco cessation intervention during the measurement period or the 180 days prior to the measurement period if identified as a tobacco user

We are recruiting hospitals for participation in the following testing activities from August 2025 to February 2026:

• Semi-structured interview and feasibility assessment
• Extraction of three years’ worth of de-identified patient-level electronic health record (EHR) data
• Manual abstraction of a sample of patient records (n=20)
• Clinician participation in brief survey assessment of face validity
